Eversolo DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2 – Streamer, DAC and CD Player

The DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2 adds the one source most streaming hubs leave out: a top-loading CD transport that plays discs and rips them straight into the onboard library. Around it sits the same flagship AKM conversion and analogue preamp stage as the standard Gen 2, plus an OCXO master clock — a single box for listeners at Soundium whose collection lives on both shelves and servers.

Key Features

  • Built-in CD playback and ripping: A custom top-loading transport with high-precision error correction, automatic artwork and metadata lookup, and duplicate detection when importing.
  • OCXO master clock: An oven-controlled oscillator holds the audio clocks at a stable temperature, with jitter kept below 50 fs.
  • 10 MHz external clock input: Adaptive input for tying the unit into a high-precision system clock.
  • Flagship AKM conversion: AK4499EXEQ and AK4191EQ handle native DSD512 and PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit.
  • R-2R analogue volume: A resistor-ladder attenuator works in the analogue domain, preserving dynamics at low levels.
  • 8.6-inch touchscreen: Album art, VU meters and spectrum views with direct access to inputs, filters and settings.
  • SFP fibre networking: A dedicated optical port alongside Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6, plus internal electrical isolation.

Customer Benefits

Ripping a disc on the Master Edition puts it into the same library as your streaming favourites, tagged and de-duplicated, so the physical collection stops being a separate ritual with its own box and its own cables. The OCXO clock and added isolation tighten timing where jitter usually creeps in, and the analogue volume stage feeds a power amp or active speakers without a digital attenuation penalty. With evotune PRO room correction and an adjustable subwoofer output, the system tuning happens here too.

What's in the Box

  • Eversolo DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2
  • Remote control
  • Power cable
  • Product manual

Ideal For

  • Collections split between physical discs and streaming services.
  • Listeners who want to rip a CD library onto internal NVMe storage.
  • Systems where an external 10 MHz clock is already in use or planned.

Compatibility

Works with TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, HIGHRESAUDIO and internet radio, plus TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay and DLNA; USB-B input supports Windows 10/11, macOS, Android and iOS.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • CD playback and ripping built into a streaming DAC and preamp
  • OCXO clock and 10 MHz input for serious timing control
  • Analogue R-2R volume avoids digital attenuation losses
  • Large touchscreen with VU meters and spectrum displays

⚠️ Cons:

  • No headphone output — this is a preamp, not a desktop all-rounder
  • SFP module and M.2 SSD are not included
  • 10.5 mm taller and 0.75 kg heavier than the standard Gen 2

For a system that still spins discs but lives mostly on the network, the Master Edition Gen 2 covers both without a second box. Find it at Soundium, where our team can help you pair it with the right amplifier or active speakers.
